I've been amazed at how quickly I've lost pounds (7 to be exact) and inches (19 of them!) and not only that, how much better I feel. Have you ever been at a place in your life where you just feel good? Where you wake up energized, sleep like a rock, don't rely on coffee or soda to get you through the day and don't find yourself craving and giving in to every sweet treat that comes your way? I'm finally there and it feels so good. The girl who used to have to run to the store, fast food place or gas station daily to grab that fountain soda or the girl who needed some form of chocolate every day just to get that little boost - that girl is gone. Now, don't get me wrong, I still love chocolate, I still think Dr. Pepper is super yum and I'm not against having a treat now and then. This is real life and it is unrealistic to think you'll go forever without a piece of cake and at a birthday party or a hotdog at a ball game or a soda and a piece of pizza at your favorite pizza spot. I haven't gone crazy. But what I have learned is that those things are in fact treats. Not everyday necessities. And when you are putting good things into your body like God designed, your body functions as it should.

I've shared a bit about that on my facebook page and have had a few requests the past few weeks to post a menu or what I'm eating/cooking now. I have to say, it's not drastically different to what I've always cooked, I have just made some alterations to recipes and have cut certain things out. I'll also say that our kids eat what I make. They don't always love it (although most of the time they do), but they still eat it. I'm not making a meal for Mike and I and then something completely different for the girls. Make your kids try things - veggies, salads, etc. will not kill them. Macie doesn't just love green beans but when I make them, they are on her plate and she eats them. Tonight, Mabrie didn't want her watermelon, but she had to take 3 bites of it before she was allowed to get up. Often my girls will turn their noses up at a meal and then when they sit down and take a bite, they end up loving it and cleaning their plates. My mom was the same way with us, and I'm convinced that's why we would eat Chinese, Italian, American, Mexican, veggies, salads, fruits, and more - because if mom made it, we ate it. Period. I vividly remember when she'd make something like stuffed peppers thinking and probably voicing "GAG ME - I hate stuffed peppers!!" Guess what Chrissy ate for dinner that night? Yep, stuffed peppers. I lived to tell the tale. So will my girls. So will your kids.

So, here are some healthy menu ideas and I'll try to link you to the recipes or the blog where I found them.

Chicken and Lime Soup - Click HERE for the recipe - this is a great option for a cool, rainy night OR for Cinco De Mayo.

Copycat Chipotle Grill Burrito Bowls - Click HERE - these are a favorite go to for me! I enjoy Mexican food, but it can be SO fattening and heavy. These are perfect and light! I also used this rice last night for the chicken quesadillas that I made. I'll post that recipe separately.

Chicken Pizza - Click HERE - this is a great option for pizza lovers! It can be made even healthier by using a thin, whole wheat crust. Serve with a salad and you will have a satisfying meal with a lot less calories than take out pizza.

This one doesn't have a link, but I love to marinate chicken in olive oil, lemon juice, fresh rosemary, garlic, salt and pepper. Toss it on the grill and serve with a bunch of roasted veggies. My favorites are zucchini, squash, yukon gold potatoes, red onion, broccoli all cut up into bite size pieces, toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, maybe some other seasonings of your choice and roast for about 20-30 minutes on 400 degrees. These taste so good with the grilled chicken. Again, a side salad is a great option with this.

I got a fantastic recipe recently for Chicken Lettuce Wraps (Asian style). Take 3-4 chicken breasts, lightly coat in olive oil, salt and pepper and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes or until done. Let cool for a few minutes and in a bowl add some chopped cilantro, shredded carrots and green onions. Using a food chopper, finely chop chicken (or shred with 2 forks). Add chicken to bowl and toss with a small amount of Asian Peanut sauce. Just enough to hold it all together. Serve in Bibb Lettuce cups. These are great and my kids loved them!

One of my favorite blogs for recipes is One Lovely Life - she has a whole section of gluten and dairy free recipes and is even compiling recipes for people that eat Paleo or Whole 30 - click here for the link

Another blog I love is Skinny Taste. She has Weight Watcher points listed for each recipe and has a great compilation of those things we all love to eat and has changed them up to be healthier. You can find so many good ideas on this blog!

If you are looking for good lunch options, some things I enjoy are tuna salad served over a spring lettuce mix and using Olive Oil and Red Wine vinegar for the dressing. A little salt and pepper and you have a filling and yummy lunch.

Cook with rice, veggies, fruits, salads, lean meats, fish, shrimp, as often as possible. I even like a good grilled burger now and then and find that it's great wrapped in a Bibb lettuce cup as opposed to a bun. You can jazz it up a million ways and skip the bread for a lighter meal. Don't want fries with it, how about dice up and roast a sweet potato for a side? If you're making pasta, use whole wheat. Or better yet, make spaghetti squash - yum!!

There are a million ways to make your favorite foods better for you - just think it through a little and see where you can save calories and fat here and there. Every little bit will make a difference. Make a fruit salad, slice up a watermelon for an after dinner bite of something sweet. Get some vanilla greek yogurt, add some honey, granola and strawberries for a yummy sweet treat in place of ice cream. Need something crunchy? Baby carrots and hummus are SO good!! Try it! I hope this has helped give you all a few ideas and a few places to find good options. Feel free to comment if you have questions or want other recipe ideas - I'll do my best. I am no expert of course, but I would love to help you find recipes that your family will love and that you can walk away from feeling good about!
You'll see me in Forbes Magazine soon.

The past few months, I've tried/bought some new products that I really just love and thought I'd share those things with you today. So, here goes!

1. Jamberry Nail Wraps

I know, I know. I mention them a lot. And it's not just because I sell them. They really have been so great for me! I had a party for a friend of mine back in late November. She sent me some samples to try out and I had my doubts that they'd really work for me. (I'm a nail picker/biter/tapper/peeler - you name it, if it's bad for your nails, I do it). I wasn't sure if I could put these on and keep them on - since I'm CONSTANTLY messing with my nails. I try painting my nails and within an hour they are chipped. And I'm too stinking cheap to go to the nail salon every 3 weeks to keep my nails looking like perfection. Plus, my thumb nail is totally jacked up and I don't want the nail people asking me about and showing their entire nail family, my whackadoodle nail (they've done this before). So, I thought I'd try these nail wraps and see if they work for someone like me. They did - in fact, for the first time in my life, my nails are growing and looking so much better. I have stopped picking and biting my nails and these have really been awesome for me. So, I started selling them because they are so much fun and so easy to use. They even have Jamberry Juniors for little girls! They stay on your nails for 10 days to 2 weeks and you get at least 2 full manicures out of each wrap sheet. So, for $15 per sheet (or $7.50 or less per manicure), they are a great deal! I love them - I really think you would, too! If they work for me and my horrid nail habits, they will work for anyone! You can shop them by clicking HERE!

2. Bare Minerals Warmth Face Color/Contouring Powder

I love a face bronzer. And I mean LOVE. I'm Paley Palerson so I need something to brighten up this skin. I've tried tons of bronzers and while this isn't an actual bronzer, it gives you a nice pop of color on your face and contours your face really well. And it can be used on all skin tones. It's awesome. Get it, you and your tan skin will thank me. And who couldn't use some color in this Arctic winter weather we are all having.

3. High Waisted Fleece Lined Leggings from Windsor

If you are friends with me on Facebook, you might remember that I asked about leggings a week or so ago. I may have found the greatest leggings in all the land. And they are a measly $8.90! Are you kidding me?! They are all the things that I wanted in leggings - and more. I didn't know that I'd want high waisted/wide banded leggings. But, oh, how I do. The high waist is just glorious. It's like maternity leggings without being maternity. They cover every little bump and bulge around the waist and allow shirts to flow over them so nicely. And they are fleece lined. Which is just pure glory when you live in the land of never ending snow. They come in a variety of colors and they are one size fits all - so you don't even have to guess what to order. And if you hate them, you spent $9. But you won't hate them. You'll love them. You'll want to live in them. Trust me.

4. Gain Original Scent Fireworks Scent Boosters

Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-44813862027310762192014-01-26T13:25:00.003-06:002014-01-26T13:25:49.135-06:00Mystery Party! So, most of you that know me, know that about a month or so ago I started selling Jamberry Nail Wraps. I had a party for a good friend of mine and then decided that I'd sign up to sell because I loved the product so much! If you are like me, painted nails lasts about a day (if I'm lucky) before chipping off. And I rarely get to a nail salon to get them done, so these wraps were just perfect for me. They stay on wonderfully, are easy to apply and come in the cutest designs that I can hardly pick which ones I want to put on.

I heard about a fun party idea and decided to give one a try! It's called "Mystery Hostess" online party. Here's how it works:

Click the link below to "Shop for this party"
Check out all of the great designs (Jamberry Juniors are perfect for those little girls in your life)
Place your order (remember always buy 3 get 1 free)
Once the party total reaches $100, you are entered into the Mystery Hostess drawing.

What does that mean for you? Well, the party is open today, Sunday, January 26th-Friday evening, January 31st - any order you place under the party link will enter you in the drawing and to make it better, each wrap you order gets you one entry into the drawing! The lucky person will win 100% of the party hostess rewards! Which means free product, half price items and great discounts might be in your future! You earn all the rewards of having an in-home party, without doing any work! So easy and so fun!

A couple things to remember: You don't have to actually "know" me to order. All orders are done online and are shipped directly from Jamberry to your home. Jamberry is always buy 3 wraps get 1 free! You can combine the Jamberry Juniors and regular size wraps in that deal. Jamberry Juniors are GREAT for girls ages 3-11. Each set of nail wraps comes with enough for 2 full manicures and 1 pedicure, depending on nail length. And you get more than that with the Jamberry Juniors! These make super fun gifts - Valentine's Day, Birthdays, teacher gifts, etc. The wraps will stay on 10 days to 2 weeks.

It's cold here. I know, you already know that. But it's insanely cold. The kind of cold that makes your fingers shrink and your wedding ring spin around on your hand. The kind that makes you lose your breath when you step outside. That kind of cold. And while there are moments that I want to pack up our car and move to Miami and escape this craziness, it really isn't THAT bad. Sure, we can't play outside and we have to put on 10 layers of stuff before we leave the house, but this weather is so widespread, that even places that typically don't have snow/ice/cold temps are experiencing it this winter. It's just a bad winter and there's no way around that. Al Gore and his global warming. When the wind chill is in the negatives for a solid 2 weeks, I think we can all rest assured that Al is a doofus.

So enough about that. Cold schmold. Let's move on.

Our family is adjusting to life in our new town nicely. The girls are doing well at their new school and have made friends. They like their teachers a lot and according to Maddie the school lunch at her school is awesome, so I mean that says something, right? I couldn't pay them to eat lunch at their old school - not sure why except that they claimed it was "the most disgusting food EVER". We may have a little drama at our house from time to time. :)

Mabrie started going to preschool at our church. She goes three days a week for 2 1/2 hours each day. She really enjoys it and it's a nice break for me to run a few errands or come home and get things done around the house. She's in a class with 3 little boys and the first day her teacher said that Mabrie hold her own with the boys. HA! Yes, if there's anything Mabes can do, it's "hold her own". She's a feisty one.

Mike's job is going well and he truly loves his new role. He has always loved working for this company, but this new job is exactly what he's wanted to do for several years and it's great seeing him in his element and excited to get up and go to work every day. He works so hard to provide for our family and for that, I'm very thankful.

We have found a great church and joined a small group. I've also started going to their MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) group and have met some new friends through that. I've had lunch dates, play dates and am planning get togethers for the next couple of weeks. I joke that I'm like a tiger - I pounce on anyone that will be my friend - HA! All kidding aside, I just have learned from all our moving one very important thing - if you want friends, you gotta get out there and make an effort. Join activities, join a church and more importantly a small group, talk to people and get to know them. I read a quote right after we moved here and before we knew one single person that really stuck with me. It said "You have friends everywhere, you just haven't met them yet" - that is SO true. I think back on all of our moves and all the friends we have made in so many places and I'm so thankful for each of them. We have friends from our very first move in the Joplin area that are truly some of our dearest friends. Mike still talks to and texts his buddy from there on a weekly basis. They have a special friendship that will last the test of time. Then there's our Arkansas people - my goodness, after 9 years, those people are family. They have been there with us through 2 of our 3 pregnancies, served with us at church, kept our girls countless times when we needed a date night or had to leave overnight, invited us over on holidays when we weren't traveling to see family, and just loved our family - and so much more. Those friends will forever hold a special place in our hearts and I have no doubts that Arkansas will always be "home" to my kids. And now we are a little over a month into our new lives in Indiana and what do you know, we are making friends and forming new relationships that I have no doubt will be a blessing to us. They already are. I say all of that to say this - if you are in the middle of a huge change in your life, maybe you are moving, maybe you aren't moving but you are starting a new job with all new people, maybe your kids are switching schools, or going off to college soon - don't worry! God will provide! You really DO have friends everywhere. You just need to meet them. And you will, just like we have time and time again.

Speaking of friends - 1 week from today, I'm meeting a few of them for a little weekend girl's trip!! WOO HOO!!!! I'm SO stinking excited! Pretty sure we will eat too much, laugh like a bunch of fools and talk our heads off. I haven't had a girl's weekend in so long and I'm so ready. One funny thing - I was telling the girls about it and how I'd be gone Fri-Sun. Maddie goes, "Who's gonna fix our hair?" I said that daddy would have to do it on Saturday and Sunday and she goes, "WE ARE GOING TO CHURCH AFTER DADDY FIXES OUR HAIR??" Then Macie chimed in and said, "I'm just not taking a shower until you get home!" HA! I assured them that it would be ok. They might not look like they do when I fix it, but that daddy wouldn't let them look like the 3 stooges all weekend. They crack me up!
Have a good weekend everyone - time to get out from under my warm blanket and do some laundry. Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-27518826093018924452014-01-09T21:01:00.000-06:002014-01-09T21:01:45.349-06:00School's out for...Winter?!The question I'm beginning to ask myself - will my children EVER go back to school? This snowstorm has caused them to miss Tuesday-Friday of this week. Now, that wouldn't be TOO bad if this didn't butt up to Christmas break, which butted up to moving and missing the last week of school in Arkansas. So as of right now, my girls have been out of school for 4 full weeks. FOUR! Now that is one looonnngggg Christmas break. We have been so sick of being at home that the last 3 days (against my better judgement) I strapped them in the car and headed out onto the icy, snowy roads and headed to the YMCA, Kroger, Michael's and/or Walmart. What else is a mom to do? We can only be in this house so much before we all start losing our minds. And patience. And to make it more awesome, it started snowing again this afternoon and once again - no school tomorrow.

Really, Indiana. REALLY?! Come on - let's agree that that's enough snow for one season and move along to warmer temps. And by warmer, I'm not even being unreasonable. I understand that it's January in the north. Can we agree that mid-30's is cold enough?
-40 wind chills are for Eskimos. Do I look like and Eskimo? No! Save that crud for Alaska.

So now, I have to figure out what to do with these 3 tomorrow that involves as little driving as possible and staying warm. That will probably mean going to the YMCA again and that's fine because they love it. And I was so happy to be out of the house yesterday that I ran my fastest miles ever. I did 2 miles in under 18 minutes. Of course I was listening to Fall Out Boy and so I was in fact on FIIRREEE!! Can anyone listen to that song and not feel the need to fist pump? I really had to hold back while on the treadmill otherwise I feared I'd end up going viral on YouTube where people laugh and make fun of me.

My girls did get to facetime with their besties today, so that made me happy. I got in on the facetime action with Macie, Ireland and Melissa tonight and it made my heart happy. I love that about technology - we may be states away from each other, but we can still sit and talk face to face and then we don't feel so far away.

I met a sweet girl yesterday while at the Y and we got chatting (I know you're all shocked). She told me about their church and invited us to try it out this Sunday. We plan to do just that. We are excited to find a church home and get involved. Making new friends and feeling a part of the community is so important to us - and a great way to do both of those things is by getting involved in church and a small group. Hoping that God shows us where He wants us to join and serve soon! We are ready!

Another much less important thing that I'm ready for is a cute pair of rain boots. Trudging in and out of the stores the past few days has me thinking that rain boots would be a good thing to own. There's so much snow/slosh that I need shoes that I can just rinse off. I found a couple cute pairs online from Target. I need to order those bad boys soon.

Ok, friends, family, other random people that I don't know but somehow found my blog - good night. I gotta get in bed so I can get up and at 'em tomorrow. Oh yeah, that's right - I don't have to get up and at 'em. Because snow day.

But today, we are getting blasted! We already had 6" on the ground from a few days ago, and now we are due for another 9-14" on top of that. The temps are going to plummet tonight - colder than anything I've ever experienced. Wind chills are something crazy tonight and tomorrow - around -50! I'm pretty sure they faked us out and actually moved us to Alaska. :)

The snow hasn't been too bad because as soon as it snows up here, they are pretty quick to get the roads cleared, so you don't feel trapped inside for days. Thank goodness! As long as I can get out and about, I don't mind seeing snow on the ground.

Mike and the girls shoveled the driveway this morning and then it was play time. They had a ball outside with daddy! If I had a pair of snow boots, I would have joined them. I guess I better buy myself a pair, because it looks like I'll need them.
I just counted my total blog posts for this year and including this one, I blogged a grand total of 8 times. Yes, eight. I think I just kind of lost the desire to sit down and write about life. Not because of a lack of things to blog about - there has been plenty.

So, to make it as easy as possible, I'm going to just recap our year as best as I can remember. :)

January 2013: The new year started off very normal - finally having a moment to rest and catch my breath after a WILD 2012 Holiday season. We were so busy the months leading up to Christmas and then I was insanely busy with Women's Ministry at FBC Lavaca in November and December that January brought a nice break from the hustle and bustle. School started back and I started back babysitting a sweet boy and life was moving along as normal.

February 2013: Mike and I celebrated 12 amazing years of marriage, Maddie turned 7 years old and we celebrated her birthday at Simple Simon's pizza with a bunch of her friends. We also welcomed a new family member this month - our little Yorkie, Rocco, joined us and we just love him!

March 2013: Macie turned 10 and we enjoyed having the party at Simple Simon's so much, that she chose to have her party there as well.

April 2013: I turned 37 (I know, I know - you all thought I was only 27. HA!), Mike and I ran with some friends in the Primal Challenge Race - 4 miles of mud, dirt and obstacles - it was fun and something I never thought I would actually do! We were enjoying spring and winding down the last several weeks of school looking forward to summer.

May 2013: Mike's family came to visit us and see our new house. We celebrated the last day of school and we were officially ready for summer!

June 2013: DESTIN!! Our favorite vacation spot - we had a wonderful time with my family and made lots of great memories. Always a blessing to be able to get away for a week and lounge at the beach and pool. This month was also a sad month as we said good-bye to our amazing Children's Pastor and his family. They moved to a new church in Virginia and while we were so excited for them - we were so sad to see them go.

July 2013: We celebrated 4th of July with some great friends, traveled to St. Louis and Illinois to see family and Macie did FASdogs (a workout/training program that her school puts on every summer) and we enjoyed the last few weeks of summer break.

August 2013: I ran in the Color Vibe 5k with a bunch of friends - in the rain and cold (was this really August in Arkansas??!), we celebrated Mike's 35th birthday, started back to school and started back to the craziness that is the fall season. Macie was cheering for Pittbull Football again and had practice 2 nights a week, the girls started in a tumbling class and we were running all over town just about every night of the week. I also started training for my first half marathon.

September 2013: Life was as busy as ever. The beginning of the month brought Mabrie's 3rd birthday! We had her party at Goody's yogurt shop and also had a fun celebration at Chuck E Cheese. So hard to believe that she's already 3! She was going to Mother's Day Out 2 days a week and loved her "school". I was the new MOPS coordinator and our meetings started back up this month, Macie was cheering every Saturday, we practiced 2 nights a week, tumbled on Monday nights, church activities on Wednesday nights leaving our only night at home as a family on Fridays. Felt like we were going non-stop.

October 2013: Continued my half marathon training, traveled to St. Louis to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday, competed in my first Crossfit competition and at the very end of the month, Sarah and I ran the half marathon. This is the month that also brought the biggest surprise of our year. The night before the half marathon, we were dropping off our girls to a friend who was keeping them overnight and Mike's cell phone rang. He stepped outside to answer it and in a few minutes was back inside. We told the girls goodbye and hopped in the car to grab dinner before driving to Russelville (about an hour away from home - close to where we were running the half marathon). Mike tells me that it's his boss offering him a job at one of their plants in Fort Wayne, IN. To say I was shocked is an understatement. It was an offer out of the clear blue sky. We knew that some day we might be offered a new position and have to move, but honestly, I thought it would be years away. As soon as Mike told me, I knew we would be moving. While we knew we needed and wanted to pray about it, I knew in my gut what the answer was. I was a bag of emotions - nervous, sad, excited, anxious all rolled up into one. For nearly 9 years, we had made Arkansas our home. We loved our lives in AR. We felt at home there. We had friends that loved us and we loved them dearly. The thought of leaving all of that was so sad, yet, Mike and I both knew that God was calling us to step out in faith, uproot our family and take this job in Indiana. We accepted the job and started the awful process of telling our friends.

November 2013: Mike started his new position and for the first time in our marriage, we were apart for more than just a few days at a time. He was working in Indiana and I was allowing the girls to finish up their semester in Greenwood. We spent every possible moment with our friends - knowing that our time together was getting more limited with each passing day. We traveled to Illinois to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas with Mike's family. As always, it was a great week. We missed Mike's brother, Taylor, who was (and still is) serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan and are so proud of him and his service to our country. We came home from Thanksgiving week and had just 2 weeks left in Arkansas.

December 2013: Our first 2 weeks were literally a blur. I packed in as many moments with friends as I possibly could - we had lunch dates, dinner dates, spend the night nights with friends and then it was really time. The moving company showed up at our door on the 12th and it finally hit us. We really were moving. They packed and loaded our house in 2 days and there we were - saying goodbye to an empty house that we just moved into 20 months prior. We said some tough goodbyes to dear, dear friends and we drove to St. Louis to spend the night before we drove to our new town and new home. We moved into the new house on the 16th, spent the week feverishly unpacking and getting settled, put up our Christmas tree 5 days before Christmas, did all our Christmas shopping in one day, made cookies for Santa, and celebrated our Lord's birth here in our new home just the 5 of us. It was quiet and simple and perfect. We had a wonderful Christmas. We then left for St. Louis to celebrate for a few days with my family and enjoyed it so much. We are back home and are ringing in the New Year on the couch, watching football and thinking about what this new year might bring. Praying that God uses our family in mighty ways next year. Praying that we grow as a family, grow in our faith, serve the Lord with all we have and build our lives in this new town - always being thankful for the memories we have and looking forward to many more wonderful moments.

Happy New Year, friends. Thank you for hanging with me as I recapped our wild year. Hopefully I will be better at updating my little space here in 2014. Summer needs to SLOW DOWN! Is it really 1 month from the start of school? Why do I feel like we were just celebrating the last day? I enjoy summer more and more every year.

In June, we headed south to our favorite spot: Destin! And like always, it was a blast. We swam, played on the beach, ate some great food, played golf, went deep sea fishing, went go-kart riding, shopped, went to the movies and made wonderful memories with our family.
I have for a long time. Several years ago, a few friends and I signed up for our first 5k and we started training. When I started, I honestly had a hard time running a half mile non-stop. I slowly built up to a mile, then two, then 3 and then I could do 3 with some ease. It was a great sense of accomplishment. Especially since I mainly did cardio style workouts prior to that (think Tae-Bo).

About a year and a half ago, I heard about this thing called Crossfit. I really knew nothing about it, but heard from several friends that it was a great workout, fun and encouraging. I was interested, but at that point, not enough to go get on board. It wasn't until about 6 weeks after Mike started it, and came home daily telling me how much he enjoyed it that I decided to sign up as well.

I started in February of 2012 and oh.my.word. I was NOT prepared for how hard it was, how insanely sore I'd be, and how much I'd love every minute of it. It was something that I really enjoyed and it wasn't long until I started seeing results. It also wasn't long until I started hearing all sorts of negative things about it - from all sorts of sources. From men and from women. Things like, "Crossfit is great, if you like looking like a man", "Crossfit girls have NO boobs!", etc, etc, etc. You can see some of the nice comments by just clicking on facebook and going to the Crossfit wall. As soon as they post a picture of a girl, the mean comments start rolling in.

So, I got to thinking about elite female athletes in general. Are the elite crossfitters really that much different looking? Do marathon runners, softball, basketball, volleyball players, gymnasts, swimmers, etc. not have defined muscles, broad shoulders, small chests, and so on? Well, let's see:

And let's see an elite crossfitter:

Now, keep in mind, these are the very best in their sport. WNBA, Olympians, top notch athletes. They train hard, eat as well as you can possibly eat, and they are all in amazing shape, have toned arms, ripped abs, big legs and from the looks of it, fairly small chests. HA!

Someone like myself, I workout hard, but I'm not elite. I have no real desire to be. I like chocolate chip cookies. And bread. And pizza. And Dr. Pepper. But, I also like being in the best shape that I can be for myself. For me, that includes doing Crossfit. For you, that might be running, cardio, the eliptical, Zumba, an at home workout video. And guess what? That's awesome! If you are getting up off the couch several times a week and trying to do what you can to live a healthier lifestyle - GOOD FOR YOU! You should be proud! Keep going - keep encouraging each other! But, let's stop tearing each other down because we don't "like" what workout someone chooses to do. I'm tired of women ripping each other apart because of these things. I want my daughters to be healthy and have a love for fitness. Whatever that is that they should choose to do. If they love softball, I want them to play with all their heart. If they want to run a marathon one day, I'll be on the side cheering for them, if they want to do Zumba, I'll shake my groove thing right along side them! I don't want them to sit around and be lazy because someone has told them that female softball are too man-ish, or Zumba is ridiculous or if they run too much, they will look emaciated. I want them to learn from their momma that taking care of their body is of the Lord and that if our bodies are healthy, we can serve him better!

So, let's just exercise, be healthy and be nice about it. :)

Soap box over. You can go about your day now.
Well, he's a little thing, but big for our family! :)

We had a new family member join us in February as well. His name is Rocco and he's a Yorkie. I always said that if we ever got another dog, it would have to be able to stay inside, not shed and stay SMALL!! Mike's brother and his wife bought a Yorkie and text me a picture of him back in January and I was smitten. I asked Caitlin if the breeder had anymore and he didn't. So, Caitlin, being the amazing sister-in-law she is, went on the hunt for another breeder that had some available. She found a sweet little boy dog about an hour from their house and even worked a little deal with the breeder. She was quite the bargainer! :) I think we traded about 500 texts those couple of weeks between finding the puppy, her picking him up from the breeder and she and Luke driving to Arkansas to bring him to us. Caitlin was a total rock star and even went to pick Rocco up on Superbowl Sunday - when I'm sure she would have rather been home.

We surprised the girls - they had no clue we bought a dog and when Luke and Caitlin got to our house and walked in with the new puppy, they were shocked and SO excited.

He's a sweet dog. Like any new puppy, he can be annoying. We are still working on potty training him - which has probably been the biggest downside of having a small dog. But, overall, he does well and is getting better at letting us know he needs to go outside. I'm certain he thinks he is the size of a Great Dane. He thinks he's pretty tough, but he weighs all of about 5 lbs. and is as cute as he can be.

It's Chrissy. I blog twice a year. I like keeping my 3 readers in suspense.

WHEW - where in the world did the time go?? My last post was in January and it's not because there's been a lack of great things to blog about. To be honest, I just haven't felt like it. I still love to read and follow all my favorite blogs, but to sit down, gather my thoughts and write something has just seemed like more than I wanted to do. But, I need to update this little space on the web with what we've been doing the past 4 months so that I can look back and read it some day.

So, here goes. Let's see, I started babysitting the sweetest little boy in January. He's Mabrie's age and for the most part, they play great and have a ball together. There's the occasional moments of fighting over a toy or something random - but what 2 two year olds could spend three days a week together and not have a little power struggle every now and then? They keep me on my toes and make me laugh so hard. My little buddy is moving away next month and I'll sure miss him. But I have a feeling that my little one will miss him even more. She wakes up every day asking if he's coming to our house - and on the days he's not, she's not too thrilled.

February was a BIG month! Not only did we celebrate Maddie's 7th birthday, she also asked Jesus into her heart and was baptized!! Her spiritual birthday is the 19th and her actual birthday is the 20th - so there was a lot of celebrating going on that week. We had her birthday party at Simple Simon's Pizza and it was so much fun. A lot of friends came and helped us celebrate her - she's such a joy to our family! Funny and feisty, sweet and sassy. :)
It was an extra special day when she was baptized because she was able to share the experience with her very best friend, Alyssa. Alyssa had asked Jesus into her heart a couple of months prior and ended up getting baptized in March, and Maddie was able to join her! It was a wonderful moment for both families - I pray that they remain close as they grow and always love the Lord and serve him together!
The next big event was Macie's 10th birthday on March 20th! (How do I have a 10 year old already?) She also had her party at Simple Simon's Pizza and had a great day. She loved every minute of it - she's so much like her momma. Loves being around people and having fun. She is in love with owls right now and wants everything she sees that has an owl on it, so I knew the theme had to be centered around that. Her cookie cake was SO cute and she got several gifts with owls - she was thrilled! She is a little ray of sunshine - always smiling, always laughing and has the sweetest heart. We are so blessed!
The end of March brought Easter Sunday. We were home and it was a great day. I love Easter Sunday service - such a celebration and I love seeing everyone dressed in their pretty spring colors. We always go to lunch after church at our friend's house. They are like our family down here and we've kind of adopted them as our own - we love them and are so thankful that years ago they asked us to join in on their holiday celebrations! It means so much to us to have people that we love welcome us to their family events like we are just a part of the fam!
April brought my 37th birthday and we spent it in St. Louis, which always makes me a happy girl! We shopped, ate some of my favorite things and just had a great time with my parents, brother and nephew.

This weekend Mike's family is coming here to see us and our house - they haven't been since we moved in last spring and we are excited to have them! I'm sure we will have a wonderful time and always look forward to time with family. It's Mother's Day weekend so we will get to spend it with Mike's mom - would love to get to spend it with both of our moms, but unfortunately we don't live close enough to make that work.

Life stays so busy, but I have to get better about slowing down and documenting our lives. This is my little "scrapbook" and I love to go back and see what we were doing at certain times. If no one else reads it, at least my little family will have it to look back on. :)

Have a happy weekend! I'll see you again in October. HA! Kidding. I hope. Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-83839576422627882642013-01-24T15:02:00.001-06:002013-01-24T15:02:04.670-06:00RandomnessI've just had all sorts of thoughts buzzing through my head today and thought I'd share with all 3 of you that read this.

1. I met Michelle Duggar yesterday. So neat, so challenging. She's an amazing woman of God, a great wife and a great mother. I left the meeting thinking these few things:

A. I have a lot of work to do as a mom.
B. I have definitely dropped the ball in a lot of areas.
C. She may need to come live in our house for about a year.
D. I'm so thankful that God knows our hearts and is constantly teaching me how to be a better mom, wife, Christian.

2. I'm doing a Bible study with some girls from Crossfit. It's on Beth Moore's book, "So Long, Insecurity". Now, I'll start by saying that I never thought of myself as an insecure person. But, I thought that it would be good to read this book and make sure. Umm, I was wrong. Beth is wearing me out. There are things in my life that I never thought I was insecure over. I chalked it up to "I'm just a worrier" or whatever other excuse I could think of. If you have not read this book, do it. Now. There's so much freedom in knowing Christ and that our security is in Him and eternal things. Not our spouse. Not our friends. Not our family members. Not in our money, jobs, and the list goes on and on. It's a great book. I'm learning things about myself that I never even knew. Beth rocks.

3. I'm still coughing, still have drainage, still have scratchy ears, etc. I don't feel bad, but this is annoying. It's officially been over a month now. I'm over it. I'm ready for spring.

4. I love my husband. We are a couple weeks out from our 12 year anniversary. 12 YEARS! Our dating and engagement was 5 1/2 years. That means we have been together for a total of 17 1/2 years. WOW! I love him so much more today than the day we got married. He is faithful and trustworthy. And I'm learning those are 2 qualities that are hard to come by. I do not take them for granted. I'm so thankful for him.

5. I keep hearing stuff about a show called Downtown Abbey. I'm intrigued, but not enough to find out when it's on and what channel it's on. Am I missing the mark here? Should I be checking it out?

Ok, that is all for today. Have a great rest of the week!!Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-5864854916925989392013-01-07T10:25:00.000-06:002013-01-07T10:25:09.058-06:00Christmas 2012Christmas break is officially over at the Cash house. This morning we were back at the schedule and routine of school and I have to say, I think I dreaded it more than the girls. Christmas break wasn't exactly what I had hoped for this year. We spent the majority of it sick and while we had fun, it's hard to fully enjoy anything when you don't feel well.

Mike was off work for 12 straight days, all of which someone was sick. Mike started feeling bad the day before his vacation and called in sick, which is something he very, very rarely does. By that evening, I was trying to decide if we should go to the ER or not. His fever was up to 104.7 at one point and he was feeling terrible. We were able to get his fever to go down some, and he spent the majority of the next 3-4 days in bed or on the couch. During that time, both Macie and Maddie had run fevers as well, but Mabrie and I were holding out and I was so hopeful that we would somehow escape it and have everyone healthy for Christmas.

No.Such.Luck.

The Sunday before Christmas, Mabrie and I were both sick as dogs and I knew we needed to go to Promed and be checked. We waited for over 2 hours in the waiting room to be called back to a room and by the time the nurse checked Mabrie, her fever had reached 104.9. They gave her ibuprofen immediately and had me put cool towels on her face and neck. They also swabbed both of us for the flu, thinking that we certainly both had it. When both swabs came back negative, the doctor was surprised and ordered to have blood drawn (from me) to be 100% sure. The blood work came back showing negative for flu, so it was determined that it was just viral. So, after 3 hours at Promed, we left there with instructions to drink a lot of water, take Tylenol and Ibuprofen and rest.

I can honestly say that I've never felt so awful, and for so many days. Mabrie bounced back a little quicker than me, but not much, and I was sick for a full 2 weeks. It was terrible - and the part that was the worst was feeling bad when we traveled to St. Louis. We always look so forward to our time with family and it was a bummer to feel yucky while we were there, but we made the most of it and tried to enjoy our time as much as possible. It's always good to be with family, even if we didn't feel great.

We had a great Christmas nonetheless. The girls got a lot of fun gifts and loved everything. I got a new watch and perfume from Mike, we also bought new furniture for our office as a gift to each other and he got some new Crossfit stuff from me.

I am thankful that if we had to be sick that it was over a break. I was able to rest and relax for the most part, which I would not have been able to do if school was in session. And I'm VERY thankful that the sickness is leaving our house. I'm praying that it doesn't return.
I hope each of you had a blessed Christmas and Happy New Year! Looking forward to 2013 and praying for a wonderful year!Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-18496852845889324272012-12-21T13:52:00.000-06:002012-12-21T13:52:28.118-06:00Catching UpI guess what I've decided is that I'm kind of a once every 6-8 weeks blogger. I'm sure that sets me up for huge blogging success. I just get in this rut where I feel like there's either A) Not much to say or B) So much to say/do that I don't have time to sit down and gather my thoughts.

So basically here's what I've/We've been up to since, oh you know, October.

Let's start with Halloween, shall we? We don't really "celebrate" Halloween, we more or less spend as little as possible on a cute costume, go to the Fall Festival at our church (which the girls LOVE) and then visit a few neighbors for some candy. And that's about the extent of it - fun night, the girls have a ball and I get a bowl full of candy and a flabby gut. It's great.

Macie and Maddie were pirates this year and Mabrie had this cheerleader outfit from Mike's parents last year, so she wore that. Cute, cheap, simple - just the way I like it!
Macie was selected as Student of the Month for her class in October. We are so proud of her. She's a good student, loves to learn and loves school. They had a breakfast and an award day where they acknowledged all the student that were selected. Good job, Macie!!
One day the girls were super bored and asking me what they could do that would be fun and different. I follow another blog and saw that she had her kids do leaf rubbings, so I grabbed paper, crayons and sent them outside to collect leaves. It turned into a fun project - they created some cute pictures with their leaves and even better, they had fun, got along with each other and it was free. Not everything has to cost money to be fun - and they learned that on this particular day!
We traveled to Illinois over Thanksgiving to visit Mike's family and had a blast. We were able to stay almost a full week, which was really nice. We don't get that many days off very often, so usually our trips are much more rushed. It was a fun and relaxing week. We ate way too much, laughed a ton, celebrated Christmas, visited Promed (Mabrie was sick), and shopped on Black Friday! It was a great time!
December has been full of decorating our house for Christmas, Christmas parties, shopping, and lots more. I still don't have all my gifts purchased and plan to get that done tonight or tomorrow. I've never been this far behind before - it's kind of stressing me out. Life just stays so busy and when there's a moment to just sit and rest, that's really all I want to do. So therefore, I'm 4 days away from Christmas and still have about 5 gifts to buy. Oh well, I'll get finished and we will have a wonderful Christmas with our girls and later in the week with my family. Can't wait!! I love this time of year - school is out, life slows down and we get to spend time with family!
She's aggressive, fast and just picked up on the game right away. She has great coaches and they have taught her and the rest of the kids so much. Our little Blue Tiger Sharks are undefeated so far! YAY Sharks! Here are a few pictures of her in action tonight.

Aren't some days as a mom so very humbling and just plain old gross? The awesomeness began around 10:30 last night. I had just drifted off into what I thought would be a peaceful night's sleep and next thing I know, I hear a little voice utter the dreaded words. "Momma, I just threw up. In my bed."

Mike and I hop out of bed to start the clean up and see what we are dealing with. As she's cleaning herself up in the bathroom sink, it happens again. At least she was at the sink. So, Mike gets her taken care of while I start rinsing sheets, spraying Febreeze and start a load of laundry. It's always fun to do laundry at 11:00 p.m.

We get pukey-pukerson cleaned and set up on the couch, trash can in reach and head back to bed and much to my surprise, she slept all night long. So, when I wake up, I start thinking that maybe it was food related and not a stomach bug. I get her up to see how she feels and she says she's feeling pretty good. I send her to the bathroom and tell her let's see how the morning goes and try to decide what we should do about school. If it was a fluke food thing, she could probably go, but I was unsure. About 5 minutes after she got up, she tears off running for my bathroom and at that point I was very sure that we had a stomach bug and didn't luck out with the random "food didn't sit well" option.

I tell Macie that she's going to have to get her own breakfast and make her lunch because I had a mess to clean up. (She's so good to help me!!) So, here I am, 6:40 a.m., Pinesol, Scrubbing Bubbles, Windex, paper towels and mop in hand. I text a few friends and Maddie's teacher to try and organize my morning. So thankful for friends that will swing by and help get my kids to and from school while I stay home with the sick ones!!

So then, Mabrie gets up and I run her to the bathroom, put panties on her, get her dressed and try to quarantine her from Maddie. I continue on with laundry and sanitizing the other bathrooms and when I finally sat down to rest for a minute, I notice Mabrie standing right next to me with a funny look on her face. I said, "Mabrie - do you need to go pee pee?" And she started crying. So I feel and she feels wet - ugh! POTTY TRAINING! We rush to the bathroom and much to my surprise, my morning is about to get even better. She did have an accident in her panties, but oh happy day, it wasn't pee. No, no, it was diarrhea. Perfect. So, I get that disgusting mess cleaned up. Throw those panties right in the trash. Because I'd rather buy new ones than deal with that. YUCK!!

I throw a pull up on her and about 5 minutes later it happens again. This time, worse than the first, but WHOOP WHOOP - at least it was contained.

Back I go to the washing machine with yet another load of clothes.

It's days like these that you just have to laugh and thank the Lord that for probably 355 days out of the year all of my girls are healthy and happy. Being a momma isn't for the faint of heart. You WILL have bodily fluids on you, you will rinse vomit out of clothes and bedding, you will get on your hands and knees and clean diarrhea off the bathroom floors. It's gonna happen. It's not glamourous, but the other option is that I don't have these 3 sweet girls in my life. I'll gladly take days like these in order to get to be their mom.

Both girls seem to be feeling much better already after nice long naps and I'm praying that it's over as quickly as it came.

Happy Monday, everyone! :)Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-48951488851203161482012-10-19T13:06:00.000-05:002012-10-19T13:06:01.429-05:00Pumpkin Patch & Other StuffOn Wednesday, my MOPS group had a play date at a local Pumpkin Patch. Macie and Maddie were in school, of course, so it was just Mabrie and me. She had fun playing with the kids, grabbing pumpkins, playing in a bin of bird seed and getting to play games and get candy. She is so much fun - a little sassy and wild, but that's another story.
Trying to get a good picture of a 2 year old could be an Olympic event. :)
Last Saturday our Women's Ministry at church hosted an event called Mugs-n-Muffins. We were so excited to have Katie Rowe come speak to us. I've been reading her blog for years and felt like I knew her, even though we had never met. She was as sweet as I imagined she would be. She loves the Lord and spoke from the heart about the loss of her sweet newborn baby girl, Reese. I should have taken these pictures BEFORE she spoke, because you can tell that her sweet testimony brought me (and everyone) to tears. But, I loved getting to meet her! It was a great day and our ladies just loved her - as I knew they would!

Katie is in the middle - Sarah and I were thrilled to get to talk to her face to face!! We both love her blog!!
And last, here's some fun pictures of Macie and her cheerleading squad from last Saturday afternoon. They are a sweet group of girls and they do a great job! Go Pittbulls!!
She was 6 years old and she was completely sure of what that meant and was ready to make the most important decision that any person could make.

Being so young, Mike and I wanted to be sure that she understood. That it wasn't something that she just "knew" from being in church all her life and knowing the right answers, but something that she fully believed and understood in her heart. She was in 1st grade, and while that is very young, she really did "get" it. She understood that she was a sinner. She understood that the only way that she, a sinner, could one day spend her eternity with Jesus was to ask Him to be the Lord and Savior of her life. To turn from her sin and live for him. And she understood that it was only because Jesus came to this sin filled earth, lived a perfect, sinless life and died on the cross for her sins that she needed to trust in Him.

This was a day that I had prayed for since I found out I was pregnant with her. I longed for the day that she understood and wanted to live her life for the Lord. I'm so thankful that she made that decision as a young child. She truly has a heart for the things of the Lord. She told me today that she told her teacher and several kids that it was her spiritual birthday and she's not ashamed. She has a spiritual maturity about her that amazes me sometimes. She talks often about going on mission trips, begging for the day she can go with her daddy to Haiti. She wants to go and I know that once she does, she will have a heart for missions that will continue to grow.

We are so proud of her. She's not perfect. Who is? But, she is a sweet little girl who loves people, and loves Jesus and she isn't afraid to tell you about Him. I could learn something from her. Her excitement of her salvation has only grown over the years - isn't that the way it should be?

Macie - we love you so much. To know that I have an absolute assurance that we will spend our eternity together is a joy that I can't explain. I pray and look forward to the day when your little sisters make that same decision. Just think - our whole family will be together FOREVER!! What an awesome thought! You are a joy to raise and we are so thankful for your influence on people around you, but especially your sisters. They are watching and we know that your good example will help to mold and shape who they become, too! Not that you are responsible for your sisters, but you are setting a Godly example for them to follow and we couldn't be more blessed!

Happy 3rd Birthday - praying that God would use your little life in a mighty way.

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
I took Macie to lunch at Geno's Pizza today to celebrate! :)
It's officially my favorite time of year, and favorite month of the whole year - OCTOBER! I love fall. The weather, colors, smells, food - every month could be like October and that would be perfectly fine with me. Some days it's warm enough for flip flops and capris and some days it's cool and crisp enough for boots and scarves. It's the best!

We have been so busy the past couple of months and I think I've sat down about 10 times in the evenings after we've put the girls to bed with such good intentions to write something and it just doesn't happen. I'm either too tired, can't think of anything to say, or I just don't want to do the work of writing something and would rather fall asleep on the couch to a good old Friends episode. Macie told me yesterday that she's been checking my blog every day and she really wants me to post something, so here I am! I guess at least I still have one reader that is interested in this little blog space I have here. :)

So, what have we been doing? Well, basically the same thing so many of you have been doing - running to and from about a million activities, practices, games, get-togethers, etc.

Maddie started playing soccer for the first time this fall and she loves it. She's really good, too. She gets right in there and gets after the ball. She's scored a goal and assisted in a few others. Her team is undefeated so far and they are a fun little group to watch.

Macie is still cheering for the Pittbulls. She is having a ball. It's right up her alley - jumping, yelling and dancing with a bunch of sweet girls. They have really done such a good job this year - I love watching her do something that I loved when I was younger. I cheered all through Jr. High and High School and it was such a blast. I have a group of girl friends that I cheered with that I'm still close to to this day. It's a special relationship that I have with those girls and I hope that as Macie grows that she will bond and have life long relationships with some of these sweet little girls, too.

Mabrie has kept me busy the past week or two with potty training. Overall, she's doing great. She wears underwear most of the time and has very few accidents. We are still working on it and I wouldn't say we are "there" yet, but we are getting really close. It's a family effort, that's for sure. Someone in the house is constantly running her to the bathroom and giving her an M&M reward. That's the girls favorite part - I think they may sneak one as a little reward for themselves, too. HA!

I've been running a lot more lately and it's wonderful to get outside and run in this weather. I really do love it. I'm going to try to do another 5k in November and my goal for 2013 is to do my first 10k. Hoping to be ready for that this spring. Maybe early May. That's the goal anyway.

Well, that's the update for now. I'll leave you with this little treat. We had a Duck Dynasty Watch Party with some church friends last week and it was a total blast. Not sure this is our best look, but we had fun nonetheless.

There are days where I feel like we meet each other coming and going. Macie and Maddie have both joined after school activities that keep us constantly on the go. Maddie is playing fall soccer and Macie is doing Pittbull Cheerleading. Soccer practice is on Monday nights, cheer on Tuesday/Thursday nights, games for both on Saturday, Church on Wednesday night and Sunday! WHEW!

It's been a wild few weeks and won't slow down until mid-November, but we are loving it. It's been so fun to see the girls find something they enjoy, make new friends and get involved in their community. And because of it, Mike and I have also met several people.

I have also joined the PTO at their school and have kind of jumped in both feet first helping and volunteering up there. I've been to a PTO Work Day where we meet at the school and do all sorts of stuff for the teachers and worked at the Scholastic Book fair last night. I love doing that kind of stuff at the school. It helps me get to know other moms and the teachers, which has been great. I knew the teachers so well at the girl's previous school and just felt at home going in there. It's kind of odd being the "new girl" again, but one thing I've learned in all our moving around is to just jump in and GO! So, that's what I'm doing. :)

I know full well that these busy days with kids won't last forever. The years zoom by and there will come a day when they are off to college or out on their own and we will miss the busyness of these years. So, while there are some nights that all I want to do is stay home, put on my yoga pants, lay on the couch and do nothing, I'm trying to enjoy it all. We are blessed to have children that are healthy and on the go!

For now, I'll grab a few minutes of rest while the littlest one naps before it's time to hop in the car and GO again!!
On Monday, September 3rd, we celebrated Mabrie's 2nd birthday! It was such a fun day. It was the Labor Day holiday, so the whole family was home and we made a day of celebrating her.

We woke up and made her cupcakes, wrapped presents and after we all got dressed and ready she got to open her toys. One of her gifts was a little race car track that she had played with at a friends house a few days prior to her birthday. She literally sat for 30 minutes or more playing with it and I told Mike that we HAD to get her one. It kind of went against all that I stand for - you know, little girls need pink, girly things - NOT cars!! HAHA! Even Macie was a little concerned that we were shopping in the "boy toy" section of Walmart. But, she loves it and has played with it every day since. She'll come walking out of her room carrying it behind her and say, "I play my race cars!" Too funny!

After she opened her gifts, we headed to Chuck E. Cheese for lunch. All 3 of the girls were pretty excited about that. They used up 100 tokens and got some really awesome prizes. (Sense my sarcasm??) We don't go to C.E.C. very often, so when we do, it's a real treat for the girls. They all enjoyed it and Mike and I may have enjoyed a few rounds of Ski Ball, too. :)
When we got home, we sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cupcakes. Well, Mabrie more or less licked her cupcake - she may like to play with cars, but she's still girly when it comes to getting her hands dirty. HAHA!

She's such a blessing to our family! She's funny and feisty. Sweet and sassy. All the things you'd expect from a 3rd born. :)

She talks so well and says some of the funniest things. She likes to play with her "cook", which is her kitchen stuff, her race cars, her dolls (she's very well rounded). If she is asking for something, she always says "my my" - like, "I want my my cup" or "I play my my cook". We aren't sure why she says it twice. Maybe she's trying to reiterate that whatever she wants/needs is HERS and no one else's. But, it's cute nonetheless. She loves to watch TV. I mean, I seriously have to limit it or she would have a show on every waking moment. Doc McStuffins (or Doc D. Stuffin, as she calls it), Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Bubble Guppies, Team Umizoomi and Little Einsteins are her top picks. She can maneuver my iphone like nobody's business. She could probably live on popsicles and chicken nuggets if I'd allow it. She loves going to church and from what I understand, she can dominate her class full of boys. HA! She's quite the little character, but we wouldn't change a thing about her.

Mabrie - mommy and daddy can't believe you are already 2! You have blessed us and are loved more than you'll ever know! We pray for your little life - that God would use you in a great way as you grow. We are so thankful that God gave you to us. Happy Birthday, little goose! We love you!!
If I said I wasn't nervous about their first day at a new school, I'd be lying. Although they had both made friends and were super excited, momma was a little nervous about it. As a child, I never had to switch schools. My parents have lived in the same house since I was 1 year old, so I never had to go through what so many kids have. I know kids are adaptable and usually handle change better than adults though, and thank goodness that has been true for my girls, too.

They both had a great first day of school. They were all smiles coming out to meet me and went on and on about their teachers and classmates. God has been so good through this whole entire transition. From finding and buying the new house, making new friends in our neighborhood and now with the transition to a new school. His hand has been in all of it. We KNOW we are right where He wants us!

Here's Macie on her first day of 4th Grade

And Maddie on her first day of 1st Grade

And not to be left out of the whole "first day" stuff - here's Mabrie on her very first day of Mother's Day Out! She was just as excited as the other two. But mainly because she loves her backpack. :)

Praying for a wonderful school year! I love you, girls! Our summer has come to a close and this last week of sleeping in and spending the days playing with friends, running around town and just enjoying time at home is over and it's back to the routine. I always look forward to that, but I sure have enjoyed this summer break so much.

I knew that I wanted to try and do as much with the girls as possible this week and we really made the most of our days. We shopped, went to lunch together (several times), made crafts, played with friends, got ice cream, had sleepovers and had a great week together. Here's a little bit of our week in picture form!

On Monday, I ran to Hobby Lobby and got some things for Macie's wall. We spray painted these signs and I made her a cute chalkboard out of an old picture. She loves all of it!

We headed to the mall on Tuesday for some school clothes shopping and lunch

Tuesday afternoon I went to workout and it was "Tank Top Tuesday". This is a joke and if you aren't familiar with Crossfit, the trainers set the workout for the day and if you do it as "prescribed" then you Rx the workout. Well, I NEVER Rx a workout because I just can't lift some of the heavier weights - but I jokingly said the other day that I "Rx Burpees every time" and my friend Annie said that I HAD to get that on a shirt. So, here's what we came up with and it was a great time. All in good fun!

Wednesday, we had lunch at The Java House - a great little sandwich shop here in Greenwood.

Today, the girls and I went shopping again, this time for tennis shoes and then we ran over to Target to look around and grab a few things - lunch included! Sometimes it's nice to just grab a pretzel with cheese, isn't it?!

We have one last thing planned for tomorrow. We are meeting a new friend at the nail salon for a girly day! Maddie and Olivia are in the same class this year and we thought it would be fun for them to meet so that Maddie would know someone before Monday! We are all excited about it and looking forward to getting our toes painted together!

So thankful for the time with my kids! Have a great weekend - here's to a great school year and lots of memories!!Chrissy Cashhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09096393374184712881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5234466366754894230.post-43255371685325182692012-08-05T17:35:00.000-05:002012-08-05T17:35:04.739-05:00July 2012Another month of summer just flew by and now we are 2 weeks away from the start of a new school year. The school supplies are bought and we are getting geared up for another year, but this year will be at a brand new school! The girls have already made several great friends and for that, I'm very thankful.

The month of July was busy but fun! It began with some of our very best friends coming in town for a 2 week long visit. We enjoyed having them over for dinner, spending the 4th of July with them (and several other great friends) and going swimming at Lake Fort Smith before they had to leave and head back to Pennsylvania. Travis, Sarah and girls - we had a great time and look forward to seeing you again soon!

The first weekend of July was also a big deal for Macie as she was able to go to Church Camp for the very first time! They can go after they complete 3rd grade and it was her first time away from us and home for that many days. She was super excited and had a wonderful time. She's already looking forward to next summer and has been making plans for all the fun stuff she wants to do!

The girls have enjoyed having friends over to play and they've spent lots of time outside on the water slide and in our neighbor's pool. We've done lunch dates with new friends, spent the night with the neighbor kids and gone on ice cream dates with them and have just had a great time! We are SO blessed to live by such great people!
Toward the end of July, the girls and I headed to St. Louis for a few days and then over to Illinois from there to visit our family. We were gone a week and enjoyed every minute of our time with family! We celebrated my nephew's 16th birthday, celebrated my parent's 45th Wedding Anniversary and had so much fun in Illinois with Mike's family - swimming, playing outside, eating yummy dinners, watching movies and just hanging out. Mike didn't get to go on that trip with us because he was out of town at a meeting and we missed him lots!
We finished up the last few days of the month just spending time together as a family. After being away from daddy for a week, the girls were excited to get back and see him. (And so was I!)

We packed as much fun into July as possible! It's hard to believe that we are into August and going to have to start getting back into the old routine. Part of me is ready for it, and part of me wishes we had a little more time to just be home and enjoy the lazy, but fun days of summer. Time just keeps on ticking away and we are trying to make the most of it - here's to the last 2 weeks of summer and packing in as much fun as we can!
